Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. Williamsburg County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you send a message to us through an available channel, we may keep it long enough to review and respond. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Standard server and analytics systems may collect technical information when a page loads:

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Williamsburg County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal histories. It publishes general directions to records held by the Williamsburg County Sheriff, courts, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, South Carolina Department of Corrections, and South Carolina Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not combined into a consumer report, and the site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes that appear on some pages. Information submitted through a partner tool is handled under that company's privacy policy, retention practices, and sharing rules. Review those terms before sending a query because this policy does not control the partner's systems.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Williamsburg County departments, South Carolina courts and agencies, legal resources, or outside search providers. Once you follow an outbound link, the destination's privacy rules govern the visit. Check them before providing personal details.
Advertising companies may also use their own technology to measure activity across websites. That processing occurs on their systems rather than ours.

Personal data is not sold. Limited information can be available to:
- A search partner that receives a query you choose to submit
- Analytics vendors that measure use and performance

- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used security measures help protect collected information. No internet service can promise absolute security, however. Safeguards reduce risk but cannot guarantee that an intrusion or loss will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will take steps to delete it.
Your Data Rights
Rights vary with the law that applies where a visitor lives. You may ask to see personal data we hold, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, or object to certain processing when governing law provides that option. South Carolina's Freedom of Information Act, S.C. Code Title 30, Chapter 4, controls access to public-body records, while S.C. Code Title 23, Chapter 3 governs state criminal-information dissemination. Those statutes regulate government records and do not turn this private site into a public records custodian.
